Software Projects: H.A.U.S.L.

H.A.U.S.L. (short for Home Assistance Unit for Service and Life Improvement) is a auto navigating self built driving robot using a industruial PC/104 CPU module as its "brain". The team building that robot consisted of 3 members of the JECC (Jumptec Elite Computer Club), a project brought to life by a local IT company in order to support and guide technically interested young people in the area.

The H.A.U.S.L. project and its members won several prizes including

My part in the team was the development of the navigational software for H.A.U.S.L. which had tree navigational modes: Additionaly a 2-axis-movable webcam and a 1-bit display were mounted in the robot unit along with a wireless network adapter. Combined with the linux based software and manual override navigation a camera view could be brought up on a client and the unit could be controlled even at remote locations.

Project status

The project was declared finished. A follow-up project was started, but work on it had to be cancelled since the team dissolved when moving to different cities for starting university education.
