CouchDB 0.11 around the corner

CouchDB 0.11 is just around the corner and the people at Couch.io keep providing updates (Part 1 and Part 2) on what your favourite Document Store will be shipping with its next release. To give you a quick primer, here the buzzwords:

  • URL Rewriting: Have your own prettifyed URL schema on a CouchDB application
  • Virtual Hosts: Place your site's entry-point anywhere in CouchDB's URL schema (plays nicely with URL rewriting!)
  • Better JOIN-support: You can now fetch another document from your view result
Since 0.11 will be the feature freeze for 1.0 we're seeing what will be the first iteration of the CouchDB's implementors' vision. And it sounds pretty nice: Your entire application can be hosted in CouchDB and you can have virtually anything you want and have it your way. I'm really eager to see the final result!

Update (3/23/2010 7:40am)

Part 3 of the Couch.io blog post series on CouchDB 0.11 has just been released. The post talks about replication features in the upcoming CouchDB release, which include:
  • Replication by document ID
  • Filtered replication (think Javascript filter functions)
The post also covers a readworthy list of uses cases that every CouchDB user should be familiar with to be able to boast with it during the next NOSQL flame war she's involved with! ;-)

Update (3/23/2010 11:19pm)

As explained by @jchris in this video CouchDB 0.11 will feature a nice security model along with a nice comfy UI in Futon:

It comes along with user roles, admin accounts, validators and all the features you'd want to have your data protected from any malicious...
Also note that this is the first youtube video embedded at dajudge.com ;-)

Be sure to read CouchDB: The definitive guide or at least my short review as well! :-)
