Beryl defect with Debian Etch?

Today I stumbled over a problem with Beryl on my brand new Debian Etch installation on my brand new notebook: After upgrading my system with the latest patches from the debian repository I was disappointed to see that starting beryl actually crashes the X.Org X-Server and thus forces a restart of the graphical user interface. It turns out that today's updates included a new version of a X.Org package which seems to break something in Beryl.

If someone else is experiencing these problems I'd be happy to know about that. I already filed a bug report at Beryl's project page and I hope to have some more info shortly.

For the sake of completeness here my configuration:

  • Debian Etch
  • GeForce 7300 Go
  • Latest NVidia X.Org drivers
  • Beryl 0.2.0

Update: It turns out this was not a problem with beryl. In fact the mentioned Debian update overwrote a file from NVIDIA's graphics driver "libglx.so" which eventually lead to the described behaviour. The filed bug report was closed.
