Software development

• Software engineering
  • In charge of development of a company internal hardware design support tool at congatec AG based on Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and Java. Intensive evaluation of available platforms and third party tools and final decision about used solution.
  • Planning and implementation of a company specific discussion board used for customer support at Kontron Embedded Modules GmbH.
  • Successfully completed a 6 month university project with strong emphasis on software engineering and quality assurance within a team with 5 other students.
• Software development
  • 6 month internship at IBM Deutschland GmbH where I contributed to 2 different projects:
    • SBLIM (Standards based linux instrumentation)
    • SOFS GUI (Administrative UI for Scale out Filesystem)
    My work there covered Eclipse plugin development, experiments with the Groovy programming language, the Grails framework and J2EE based web development using JSF. For the SBLIM project I was in charge for preparing the public release of a new version of the ECUTE toolset for instrumenting CIM-XML based appliances.
  • Team programming a PHP based webservice with integrated user management for the biometric authentication method PsyLock.
  • Writing AI code for a students' project that controlled an auto-navigating robot entirely built by other project members. Project H.A.U.S.L. won a number of awards supported by local industry and organisations.
  • Participant in an one month work experience program at Lionhead Studios Ltd. in 1999 implementing state-machine based low level AI game code for the computer game Black & White.
• Open Source development
  • Initiated and implemented the QSpamDog spam filter project supporting QMail and Exim 4. The project was later mentioned in the article "QMail Server in the Enterprise" by the Indian linux magazine "LINUX For You".
  • Contributed to the PearPC Power PC emulator project by implementing the until then missing support for CD-ROM support on the windows platform. The code was consequently merged with the main trunk of the project and is now integral part of the software.
  • Contributions to the IBM-initiated SBLIM project (specifically the ECUTE tools) and preparations for the public release of a new version during my internship at IBM Deutschland GmbH.

IT related work

• PCB design, development and testing of an embedded PCI hardware extension for Kontron Embedded Modules GmbH.
• Founded own company Lizard Creations in 2005, alongside university, focussing web development, IT consulting and software development for small to mid-size business organisations. A small number of companies are now regular customers.
• System administration at the University of Passau with specific target of integrating a new Windows PC pool seamlessly into the existing Unix infrastructure (Sun OS, Linux).
